The postcard,
left, depicts Church Street in the 1920's. Orllwyn can be seen
on right, just above the group of people sitting on the bench by
the church wall. The castle can also be seen - it sits on the horizon where the road
disappears from view.
The cottage was once the village Post Office and shop and would
have served locals with their mail and sundry goods
throughout the year.
Many a holiday-maker would have frequented the 'cottage' to buy
their stamps and scenic postcards of the village in order to send holiday greetings to family and friends
back home. Now, eighty
years on, Orllwyn provides a different service for visitors to
Llansteffan but, no doubt, people will still be sending home
messages of
'wish you were
here...' |
